The PI of S4H, Prof. Paulo Lourenço, and the PhD student Mr. Georgios Vlachakis have initiated a collaboration with the EESD laboratory in EPFL. Georgios serves as a visiting PhD student for a period of 4 months during which he will work under the supervision of Prof. Katrin Beyer and Dr. Savvas Saloustros.
This collaboration focuses on the development of a contact constitutive law for dry-joint masonry structures. The constitutive law will be calibrated based on experimental data generated in the lab facilities of the University of Minho (UMinho) by the S4H team. Later, it will be employed to predict the dynamic response of masonry structures, which will also be tested on the brand new shaking table of UMinho within the S4H project.
