Free rocking experiments have marked the beginning of the experimental campaign of the S4H project. The tests have been conducted using the granite blocks, while the DIC system has been utilized for acquisition.
The aim of the testing was twofold: 1) benchmark the operating conditions and dynamic performance of the DIC system, and 2) characterize the main dynamic properties of the blocks and energy loss at impacts.
What’s more, dynamic identification has complemented the tests in order to measure the natural frequency of the free-standing blocks and thus extract further useful dynamic properties.
