Dr Vasco Bernardo has recently joined the S4H Team as Postdoctoral Researcher. He is from Lisbon and his expertise focuses on the Seismic Vulnerability and Risk Analysis of Existing masonry Buildings in Portugal.

His background includes the use of micro and macro modelling approaches for the evaluation of the nonlinear response of existing structures and reliability-based analysis for their seismic assessment. He also participated in large-scale shaking table tests and field campaigns during his stay at National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC).

In 2022, he received his European PhD in Civil Engineering from Aveiro University, Portugal, and in collaboration with Czech Technical University in Prague and Pavia University, Italy. Within S4H, he will contribute to the development of new codes for the seismic assessment of masonry structures (WP4).
