NEW Ph.D. STUDENT JOINED THE S4H TEAM

Babar Ilyas, from Pakistan, recently joined the STAND4HERITAGE Team as a PhD Candidate. He obtained his BSc and MSc Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, Pakistan. The primary emphasis of his research was the evaluation of reinforced concrete structures under seismic loading using experimental approach i.e., Quasi-Static & Shake Table testing. His MSc dissertation focused on the Retrofitting of Damaged Reinforced Concrete Frames using Haunch Retrofit Technique. The findings of his research have been presented and published in well-known peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Currently, within the scope of the S4H project, at the University of Minho, he will be involved in the study of Out-of-Plane mechanism and rocking motion of masonry structures under seismic loading using experimental (shake table) and numerical approaches.
