Many variables influence the seismic behaviour of masonry structures. However, few researchers investigated the influence of such geometrical and mechanical parameters by using more than one computational approach. In particular, studies comparing micro and macro strategies and assessing their pros and cons remain scarce. In this study, Macro and micro limit analysis algorithms are compared on the seismic assessment of masonry shear walls. The effects of geometric and mechanical parameters and their two-way interactions on the horizontal load multiplier are also critically discussed.
