Call for Abstracts – COMPDYN 2025 Minisymposiums 41 & 69

Call for Abstracts – COMPDYN 2025 Minisymposiums 41 & 69

Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh, as a member of the S4H project, is leading the organisation of two Minisymposiums at COMPDYN 2025, which will be held in Rhodes Island, Greece, from June 15-18, 2025, in collaboration with Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço, the project coordinator, and postdoctoral researchers Dr. Matteo Salvalaggio and Dr. Vasco Bernardo, alongside other distinguished experts. We look forward to your valuable contributions and innovative research!

  • Minisymposium 41: “ (Innovative Approaches for Seismic Assessment of Built Heritage: from Conventional to Pioneering Techniques”

This session explores both traditional and innovative techniques for assessing the seismic risks to heritage structures and infrastructures. We aim to bridge conventional methods with pioneering approaches like AI and data-driven algorithms, offering fresh perspectives on preservation in seismic zones. Selected papers will receive an APC waiver and be published in the Topical Collection “Advances in Seismic Risk Assessment of Built Heritage: Bridging Traditional Methods and Pioneering Techniques” of Open Access Journal “Prevention and Treatment of Natural Disasters.”

Organisers:
Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh (University of Minho, Portugal)
Dr. Matteo Salvalaggio (University of Minho, Portugal)
Assis. Prof. Marco Donà (University of Padova, Italy)
Assoc. Prof. Pinar Usta (Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Türkiye)
Dr. Vasco Bernardo (University of Minho, Portugal)

  • Minisymposium 69: “ Innovations in Ground Motion Selection and Scaling Techniques for Structural Engineering Applications”

This session will focus on recent advancements in selecting and scaling ground motions for engineering practice. Key topics include addressing biases in scaling methods, utilising ground motion simulations, and integrating machine learning to enhance the reliability of seismic assessments. Our goal is to advance methodologies that improve the accuracy and practicality of ground motion selection and scaling for engineering applications.

Organisers:
Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh (University of Minho, Portugal)
Dr. Manolis Georgioudakis (National Technical University of Athens, Greece)
Assist. Prof. Milad Roohi (University of Nebraska, USA)
Assoc. Prof. Michalis Fragiadakis (National Technical University of Athens, Greece)
Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço (University of Minho, Portugal)

Deadline for Abstract Submission: 15 November 2024
